Senior Media Relations Officer

Amy Drapeau Olson joined the Office of Public Affairs as a senior media relations officer in May 2012, after more than 13 years working in public relations in the non-profit, public, and private sectors in Boston and Washington, D.C. Her experience includes working in public affairs at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian on the National Mall and in public relations at Edelman in the Image and International Affairs division. Before working in PR, Olson worked in foreign affairs at the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington, D.C. Her international experience includes working for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission in the Social and Cultural section of the New South Wales State Office in Sydney, Australia, and teaching English as a Second Language at a public middle school in Ulsan, South Korea. She was adopted from Taegu, South Korea, with the given name, Cha Ki-ja. Olson has an MA in international relations from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, and a BA in government from Skidmore College. In her spare time, she enjoys tennis, running, and sewing. She lives in Lebanon, N.H., with her husband Tim and their two young sons.
