Email Signatures

Creating an email signature can be surprisingly complex. How much information should you include? And how should it be formatted? The guidelines below will give the people you contact the information they need and present a consistent appearance for emails sent from across Dartmouth.

Before starting your project or hiring a design firm, please contact the Office of Communications. We will work with you to understand your needs, answer your questions, and help you work within our brand guidelines.

Downloads

Download a version of the wordmark that has been optimized for use in email signatures. Once you have downloaded it to your computer, add it to any of the email signature templates below. The wordmark should be placed at the very bottom of the signature.

NOTE: Do not copy the wordmark image directly from a web browser and paste it into your email signature. Doing so will make the wordmark render incorrectly. Instead, right-click on the wordmark to save it to your computer, and then add it to your signature from your computer's hard drive.

How to Create an Email Signature

The links below provide instructions for creating and editing email signatures in different email clients:

Font

Use Arial, Georgia, or Calibri when writing emails. You should not use Dartmouth Ruzicka or National 2 in emails, as those fonts may not be available to the people who are receiving your email.

What to include

At a minimum, email signatures should include your name, job title, department, phone number, and email address, in the formats shown below.

Copy the text of the templates below and paste into the signature field of your email client. If using the wordmark, place the wordmark as the last line of the signature.
